Using identity photos of passed away relatives from local family archives, this project explores the intersection of conceptual photography and memory transfer in Gardinovci, Serbia. The goal of this project is to give memories a second life. Through conversations and stories gathered in local households, I enhance these images to reflect the essence of each person through color and post-production. By taking the most government-regulated representation of a person and adding an emotional layer, I aim to honor the memories of those who are no longer with us. The conversations I’ve had in the village were heartfelt and personal, without the use of recording devices. Each memory was handwritten and deeply felt, emphasizing the human connection in our interactions.
