The way it all started

For me, our first phone call on March 9th is the starting point. For Efim, however, it all began much earlier.

During our first call, we discussed the project's potential, but I suppose we didn’t fully understand the process at the time. Looking back on it now, I love seeing just how far we’ve come. I like to imagine a different starting point for those who first heard about the project when the crowdfunding campaign began. It really warms my heart that Efim put together a large, active team of genuinely committed people right from the start. You can’t effectively achieve things like this without a team. Even the most passionate and motivated individual wouldn’t be able to sort out all the issues in the long run. There are plenty of issues, as well as lots of details. Some we were already familiar with and knew how to handle thanks to our professions and life experience. Others, we had to learn as we went along. For example, none of us had any previous experience with crowdfunding, so we learned as we went along.

People around us

I have friends visiting who love and support me. They have been there for me from the very beginning. They’re like family to me:
Milena Šmigič. She is my dearest friend and a loyal soul who’s always there to help. Alongside her is her boyfriend, Boško. He's a man for whom helping others matters. Helping others is important to him and inspires him.

They help me.

They're a sort of support network. This whole community is what people call crowdfunding. But I’d call it a network of mycelium that has spread and gained momentum. It’s making its way quietly and gradually through each of my inner circles and spreading further and further.
You can feel this support during difficult times. You feel it when things are tough and it’s hard to maintain this growth pace, when there’s so much to do and it washes over you like a wave, keeping you up at night.
It’s so intense.
You're walking a path that has not yet been trodden. An impulse that has only just been born and knows nothing but itself.
Just an impulse. Just life.
A beautiful tapestry. A beautiful journey toward human strength and unity.

Without these people, none of this would be possible. There’s no real hierarchy here. It’s all one process. We’re all united.
Milena and her family are the main reason I’m in Serbia.
They have given me tremendous support, always being there when I need them. This was evident from the moment I arrived in Serbia.
We’re now bringing a powerful cycle to a close. It’s enormous. After five years, you can look back and see the people who surrounded you now that we’re living the dream. It’s thanks to them that all this is possible. Thanks to all of us.
When I first arrived in Serbia, I had a herniated disc and sciatica. Radmila, Milena’s mom, spent three days with me, taking me to hospitals and arranging checkups. I was a 33-year-old grown man who had just arrived in a small village with two suitcases to set up an art residency.
This woman pushed me everywhere—to doctors and checkups. She took me to the person who eventually got me back on my feet.Recently, manufactured steel and aluminum have also been used. The wall may have places to attach belay ropes, but may also be used to practise lead climbing or bouldering. Each hole contains a specially formed t-nut to allow modular climbing holds to be screwed onto the wall. With manufactured steel or aluminum walls, an engineered industrial fastener is used to secure climbing holds. The face of the multiplex board climbing surface is covered with textured products including concrete and paint or polyurethane loaded with sand. In addition to the textured surface and hand holds, the wall may contain surface structures such as indentions (incuts) and protrusions (bulges), or take the form of an overhang, underhang or crack. Some grips are formed to mimic the conditions of outdoor rock, including some that are oversized and can have other grips bolted onto them.

If the meanings aren’t clear, what other interpretation could there possibly be? As far as I’m concerned, everything is clear.
Here they are now: these incredibly close friends. They’re planning to go to Valencia. They’re setting off to open up a whole new world for themselves. They’ll make their mark in new places, explore the world, and grow wiser.
How lovely that is!

The way we found our motivation

That day we planned to create content for the cinema. We recorded interviews and spoke with Masha to determine how we could operate independently, without relying solely on donations and support, while still keeping the cinema free for everyone.
I believe this was the first in-person meeting for the team members based in Serbia.

Sometimes, the process feels intense and everything changes rapidly. At other times, it feels like a deeply meditative activity.

That day, I thought about how much strength comes from the right kind of motivation and how much energy arises to set things in motion, bring about change, and invest effort in something that won't bring in money but will pay off in something very important to you. I want to cherish the memory of that day, just as I do the entire process of working with the cinema.

It may sound overly romantic, but isn't that how it always is when you're recalling something cherished and positive from your past?
