Inspired with the current heatwave and the low water levels in Vojvodina's rivers, this project explores ecological challenges and the human imprint on the natural environment surrounding the village of Gardinovci.

As an environmental engineer by training, I'm kinda afraid of the future — because of what my work and my studies have taught me. I can see what's happening around me, and it's visible here in Gardinovci too: Danube at lowest level(since measured), Tisa’s oxygen levels have dropped so low that fish are dying and with lack of a rain corn crops are dying too.

I photograph the villages and the areas around them, the places where human affect is seen in the land. I try to look at it from multiple positions: the ecological situation, human behavior, and nature, that endures and always finds its way back, exist side by side.
I once read an interview from Bulgaria, where someone raised same environmental concerns, only to be told that politics and economics come first and ecology can wait. In Serbia, I see the same path: the environment treated as a problem for later, not for now. While for ordinary people in villages, these issues are not the subject of public debate – the nature around them is an extension of their own homes, and they take care of it.
